We’ve lined up 10 of Russia’s most famous writers, according to their (approximate) height.

These days, it is almost impossible to calculate the exact height of classic writers. It was most often recorded approximately; moreover, in ancient units of measurement (arshins and vershki). So, Chekhov was 2 arshin 9 vershoks tall, while Pushkin 2 arshin 5 vershoks. 

According to Tolstoy’s wife, in his youth, he was very tall; however, in later photos, the venerable old man no longer seems so.
